Real estate developers unveil plans to improve transparency

The Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria has announced initiatives to improve transparency, professionalism and sustainability in the real estate sector.

The announcement was made during a press conference held on Wednesday at the REDAN Secretariat in Abuja, where the associationโ€™s President, Akintoye Adeoye, outlined the organisationโ€™s vision for the future of real estate development in Nigeria.

Adeoye highlighted REDAN’s commitment to addressing key industry challenges, particularly those related to transparency and accountability.

“Our administration is focused on improving transparency within the Association by opening up our operations to the world and our members. This initiative aims to promote trust, discipline and accountability within the real estate industry,” he said.

To support the federal government’s housing initiatives, REDAN has appointed 24 committees consisting of more than 100 association members.

These committees will focus on critical areas including advocacy, innovation and sustainability.

โ€œTo further support the governmentโ€™s efforts in addressing the housing needs of Nigerians and in line with our mission, I am pleased to officially announce the appointment of 24 committees, comprising over 100 dedicated members of the association,โ€ Adeoye said.

One of the main areas of focus of the new REDAN administration is the promotion of innovative practices in the real estate sector.

Adeoye stressed the importance of adopting sustainable development practices and advanced technologies.

โ€œLooking to the future, REDAN is committed to embracing innovation, particularly through the integration of technology into the real estate industry. This includes promoting sustainable practices, green initiatives and digital platforms that simplify real estate transactions,โ€ he explained.

REDAN’s commitment to professionalism was also underlined during the press conference. The association plans to introduce improved certification processes to ensure all members adhere to the highest industry standards.

โ€œTo raise industry standards, REDAN is introducing enhanced certification processes for our members to ensure that all members adhere to the highest professional standards, thereby enhancing the credibility and reputation of the industry,โ€ he said.

The newly formed committees will cover a wide range of responsibilities, from interacting with government agencies and legislative bodies to promoting alternative building materials and sustainable practices.

โ€œWe deeply appreciate the efforts of the men and women who have volunteered their time, resources and expertise to serve on these committees. Their contributions will not only shape the future of our Association but will also play a crucial role in repositioning the Nigerian real estate sector,โ€ Adeoye noted.

In his closing remarks, Adeoye expressed optimism about the future of the real estate sector in Nigeria.

โ€œAs we embark on this new chapter, I am confident that our collective efforts will yield meaningful results that will benefit our members, the real estate industry, and the nation as a whole,โ€ he concluded.
