A member of the House of Representatives, Ibrahim Auyo Trouble for Sayong that legislators pay up to N3 million to present invoices, movements and petitions on the room floor.
The legislator of All Progressives Congress (APC) which represents the federal electoral college of Hadejia/Auyo/Kafin Hausa in Jigawa spoke during a meeting with its members in the state.
In the videos that have become viral since then, the legislator told his voters, who criticized him to rarely sponsor invoices and motions, that legislators pay between n1 million and N3 million to make their proposals approved. Auyo spoke in Hausa in the video.
“Since I was elected a member in 2015, no individual has given me a bill to be approved, nor from Aoyo, Hadejia or Kafin Hausa. They are just pretending,” he said.
“And also, even bills and petitions are paid. You have to pay from N3 million, N2 million or N1 million to present it.
“And after presenting the account, you have to follow by pressing on all 360 members of the chamber to accept the account.”
The legislator also rejected the claims of not having assisted the members to guarantee employment.
“It is not true. Anyone who says that I have not helped our youth to lie. Those I helped to know themselves and I cannot satisfy everyone,” he said.
“Even God who creates us [did not make us equal]. Look at your five fingers; They are not the same, so you can’t satisfy everyone.
“I distribute my things [empowerment] I myself, and 80 % of 100 percent is for young people, I swear on the omnipotent Allah.
In the meantime, the Chamber of Representatives has asked him to provide evidence of his requests for further investigations.
