Rhodes-Vivour Dumps LP for ADC …

The candidate for the Governor of the Labor Party (LP) in the 2023 elections in the state of Lagos, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, unloaded the party for the African democratic congress (ADC).

Rhodes-Vivour announced his defection at the ADC during an event in Lagos on Saturday 6 September 2025.

Rhodes-Vivour, who was defeated by the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Oell of the All Progressives Congress sentence (APC) in the 2023 elections, described his transition to the ADC as part of a wider coalition.

He said: “I am happy to join this family. I can’t wait for the union and the government that this party will lead to the Nigerians.

“My prayer is that God will guarantee our leaders and the party structure the wisdom of unite and define a new path for our beloved country”.

Rhodes-Vivour also asked for unity between the opposition parties in view of the general elections of 2027, saying: “This is a coalition that has the purpose of saving Nigeria.

“I have said since after the 2023 elections that we cannot afford to divide the opposition that goes to the next elections. We must meet, united through a solid coalition that will have a chance in 2027 to deliver this country.”
