Rivers: ‘I’m not surprised’, Atiku accused Akpabio, Nass’s corruption leadership

Former vice president and presidential candidate from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, accused the leadership of the National Corruption Council for the rapid way of approval for the emergency stated in the river state by the Tinubu Bola President was given.

“I was not surprised because I knew that leadership was corrupt, and I did not apologize for that. They could do anything. The president of the senate was actually known to have such a character, even when he was a governor.”

Former Vice President also swiped the President of the Senate Senate Godswill Akpabio, accused that former Governor of the State Akwa Ibom had a history of corruption and violations even as a sitting governor.

“He is corrupt. Not only he is corrupt, but he is also accustomed to abusing women.”

Atiku who also discussed his decision not to elect the former Governor of the State Rivers and Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) at this time, Nyesom Wike, as his partner in the 2023 presidential election, said he did not regret anything because he did not choose Wike.

Also talking about the possibility of the political coalition ahead of the 2027 presidential election, Atiku suggested that he only supported credible candidates that emerged from the alliance, even if he was not a flag carrier.

“We have a similar merger in 2014, where around three or four of us contested for the presidency. One of us appeared, and we all supported it, and he won. I have never seen Nigeria who requires more experienced and credible leadership than now,” he said.
