Roads, offices, markets, schools abandoned when Ipob marks Biafra Heroes’ Day in the southeast (photo)

Economic and social activities on Friday, May 30, stopped in all states in the southeastern region of Nigeria because residents were forced to observe the house sitting in a house forced by the native Biafra (IPOB) to mark the Biafra Heroes’ Day.

An ABA, a state-based journalist, Victor Kelechi, who traveled around the city, reported that the main roads, markets, schools, and business places were quiet for fear of attacks by IPOB and militant wings, Eastern Security Network (ESN).

“All the main roads, business, and schools have been closed while residents remain indoors for fear of attacks by Ipob and ESN,” he said.

He stated that the tastes of major cities in the region were Enugu, Onitsha, Awka, ABA, Oowerri, Abakaliki and Umuahia also experienced the same situation.

“Even banks, offices and public transportation services have been closed and the streets are quiet,” he said.

Pictures and videos shared on several social media platforms also display empty paths and lock the office because people have decided to obey the direction by the Biafra group in obedience to the day set aside to respect more than three million people who lost their lives during the Nigerian Civil War/Biafran between 1967–1970.

The war was declared by the Head of State at that time, General Jacobu Gowon joined the Declaration of the Republic of Biafra by the late Lieutenant Colonel Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, a step opposed by the Federal Nigerian government.

Historically, the three -year -old war that destroyed was marked by severe victims, hunger, and displacement.

In 2012, Ipob, led by Mazu Nnamdi Kanu, was declared May 30 as Biafra Heroes’ Day, calling it a sacred memory day to respect the heroes and heroes of war women.
