Sanusi condemns violence by #EndBadGovernance protesters in Kano

The Emir of Kano, Mohammadu Sanusi II, on Friday condemned the violent incidents that occurred during the #EndBadGovernance protests in the state.

What began as peaceful protests in the state on Thursday turned violent, with several people killed and property damaged by hoodlums.

Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf has since declared a 24-hour curfew in the state following the violence that erupted following the protests.

The emir, who spoke to reporters at his palace in Kano on Friday, described the loss of lives and property as unfortunate.

He expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased victims and appealed to parents to closely supervise their children to prevent them from being used as agents of forest burning.

Sanusi described the vandalism of the Nigerian Communications Commission offices worth millions of naira as a setback for Kano State.

He stressed that anyone or group stirring up trouble ”does not represent the interests of Kano State.”

He appealed to the people of the state to expose those causing unrest and advised everyone to pray for peace, progress and political stability in the state.
