Governor Babajide Sanwo-Oell of the State of Lagos described the death of a former guardian cartoonist, Mr. Olaseinde Obe, with affection known by his signature “Obe Ess”, as a great loss for the media industry.

Obe Es, 68 years old, was a legendary figure in Nigerian journalism.

He spent many years at the Guardian newspaper, where his cartoons have become powerful tools renowned for his ticking acute and his distinctive style.

Sanwo-Olu, in a message of condolences issued by his special media and advertising consultant, Tuesday Gboyega Akosile, said that the release of the famous cartoonist was excruciating, given his contribution to journalism.

“Olaseinde Obe’s death is a great loss for the media industry and we will miss a lot.

“He had many positive impacts during his life, contributing significantly to the growth and development of journalism in Nigeria.

“Above all, the use of cartoons as illustrations and a half of expression. Its reference results in the media sector are unprecedented.

“I am in solidarity with the deceased family, friends, members, the media guardian team and entire media professionals in Nigeria.

“I pray that God grant them the strength to endure the irreparable loss of the obese,” he said.
