… the Commission denies irregularities, insists on the publication based on merit
A new controversy broke out at the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (Tescom) following viral statements on social media according to which two recently promoted principals were sent to the same school, while others promoted were left without duty, presumably due to favorism and financial inductors.
The anonymous declaration, which was trendy in accordance with the title “Ogun Tescom in my mind”, accused the Commission of bad management, poor sealing of registers and corruption in the publication of garrisons and vice principals in public secondary schools of the State.
In the viral conversation, a nameless principal complained that he had been promoted without a school assignment, claiming that the “juicy publications” were reserved for the highest bidders or those who are willing to “play ball”.
The times of the platform, however, were unable to confirm that the school was that the principals were published as time not to present this relationship.
The declaration also suggested that some official women had been pushed into compromising situations to guarantee favorable posts.
“Imagine that the Commission has published two principals just promoted in the same school, in which there is already a sitting principal, and the poor type was asked to access the two new principals. Where is it done? When a crown is not vacant, another king cannot be on the throne”, complained of the anonymous complainant.
The viral post also said that teachers are often harassed by the zonal officers and set aside in decisions, describing the publication process as “a recurrent decimal year after year”.
But in a rapid reaction, the president of Tescom, apostle ‘Biodun Saint Saint, rejected the accusations as “unfounded, misleading and a deliberate attempt to undermine the commission”.
In a declaration he personally signed on Wednesday in Abokuta, Saint Saint has argued that publications in the secondary schools of the state are transparent and strictly based on the merits.
“To avoid doubt, the publications of principals and vice principals are carried out strictly by merit, guided by verifiable service recordings, vacancies in schools and in line with the established civil service rules”, reads the note.
