Schools, the market is closed, agricultural land left behind by the Radda government revealed the impact of insecurity in 8 Katsina LGS

Governor of Dikko Radda from the state of Katsina has revealed the severe impact of insecurity in eight regional regions of high -risk local government in the state.

He registered LGA to include jibia, Batsari, Danmusa, Kankara, Safana, Sabuwa, Faskari, and Dandume.

Radda revealed this on Monday in Katsina when launching an initiative funded by the European Union 18 months, conflict prevention, crisis response and resilience, aimed at promoting peace and socio-economic stability in Katsina and Zamfara countries.

This project is being implemented by an international organization for migration (IOM) in collaboration with the Center for Democracy and Development (CDD) and the Mercy Corps.

He noted that the bandits and communal conflicts had forced schools and markets to be closed, displaced thousands of residents, and made agricultural land quiet.

“In these communities, children have been expelled from school, parents have bury their children, and elders have left their ancestral homes. This is a challenge for security and humanity that has never happened before,” he said.

Radda further highlighted that the security crisis was exacerbated by environmental pressures such as drought, descending, shrinking agricultural land, and the practice of land use that was outdated, which triggered resource -based conflicts.

He added that economic stagnation and increased unemployment of youth are also factors that worsen behind persistent insecurity.

“This is not an isolated problem. They are interconnected crises that demand integrated, holistic, and encouraged solutions to the community,” the Governor stressed.

He said his government adopted dialogue and negotiations as a central strategy in dealing with insecurity in all regional government areas that were problematic in the state, with a peace agreement that had been secured in several frontline councils.
