SDP denies unauthorized communications, warns the Aga Public …- Theconclaveng

The Social Democratic Party, SDP, on Friday declined a series of documents, letters and press declarations presumably issued on behalf of the party by some of its officials without an adequate authorization.

In a statement signed by the national national legal councilor, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, and made available to journalists in Abuja, the party has categorically declared all these communications presumably signed by Dr. Olu Agunloye, national secretary, Rufus Ayenigba and any other individual not expressly authorized by the national president of the party.

The Disclaimer arrives among the growing concerns about the affectional activities and unauthorized communications within some political parties, in particular when preparations for future elections begin to collect momentum

The party stressed that these documents, which have been released to institutions such as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INC), the safety agencies, the media houses and private individuals, did not emerge from its legally recognized leadership and are therefore null.

According to the declaration, “to avoid doubt, the party states that none of these documents, letters or other communications issued on the side or were duly authorized on the party”.

Citing different provisions of the 2022 constitution of the modified party, Enekweizu stressed that: “Section 13.1 establishes the national president as CEO and party leader.

“Section 14.3 requires that no meeting of any party organ is valid in the absence of the president of the organ, in this case, the national president who presides over the National Working Committee (NWC).

“Sections 13.1 (IV) and 14.4 (II) strengthen that only the national president can preside over the meetings of the NWC.

“Section 14.4 (i) makes any decision from a meeting held in violation of these null rules.”

The party stressed that if not expressly delegated or authorized by the National President, no party official, including the national secretary or the secretary of national advertising, is authorized to sign official communications on behalf of the SDP.

According to it “all the letters that is presumed to have been signed on behalf of the party … without the signature of the national president or for the express delegation or the directive of the national president, they are illegal, unconstitutional, null, null and without any effect”.

The SDP urged the members of the public, the government agencies, the media and all the parties interested in ignoring unauthorized documents and warned that anyone who acts on them “does it at their own” and could face legal consequences.

“We will be very obliged by your positive response to this notice of Disclaimer, since as the proverb says,” a point over time saves nine, “concluded the party.
