The President of the Forum of State Presidents of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Femi Olaniyi Ferrari, has dissociated its members from what he called “False meeting” of the National Party Executive Committee (NEC), in Abuja on Friday.
Ferrari accused the former governor of the state of Kaduna, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai of having met the alleged meeting.
Noting that the meeting took place without the knowledge of the forum of the presidents or the convocations of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the SDP, he accused El-Romai of presumably planning to destabilize the party and stressed that the members of the forum who participated in the meeting were missed and attracted to the meeting by El-Rafai.
In a declaration, he dissociated his members from the meeting, describing him as reckless, unconstitutional and without authority, quorum and legality.
He argued that El-Rufai was no longer a party member as he had been suspended from the chapter of the party’s state of the party for false affirmations of belonging.
Part of the declaration stated: “Today, July 25, the SDP State Presidents Forum learned that a meeting, defined as misleading as a meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC), took place in Abuja without the knowledge of the forum of the presidents or the convening of the National Work Committee of the SDP (NWC).
“Consequently, the forum completely moves away from this relevant, unconstitutional and unconvited meeting, which was lacking in authorities, quorums and legality.
“We know that some of our presidents who participated in the meeting were deceived and attracted there by the former governor of the state of Kaduna, Mallam Nasir Ahmad Elrufai, who seems desperate to destabilize the party for reasons known only to him.
“By coincidence, Elrufai was denied by the Social Democratic Party in his state of origin of Kaduna due to false affirmations of belonging.” His actions have caused chaos and malice, and has committed himself to anti-play activities, despite having falsely claimed to be a party member without any official record, apart from social media posts and photographs with the figures of the SDP. “
He observed that the forum remained in support of the NWC leadership under Shehu Musa Gabam as national president and dr. Olu Agunloye as national secretary.
He said: “The forum firmly supports the leadership of the national work committee, duly elected in the national convention of June 2022.
“The Committee has appointed Shehu Musa Gabam as national president and Dr. Olu Agunloye as national secretary.
“We engage our unshakable support for the authority of that legitimate NWC, currently led by the national president to Interim, Dr. Sadiq Abubakar Urar.
“We kindly ask that the National Work Committee exercises equity and natural justice towards our members who have unknowingly participated in the false meeting. Justice must be tempered by Misericordia so that the innocent are not punished together with guilt.
“We ask for an in -depth investigation on the managers of the organization of this naughty and embarrassing meeting, with adequate sanctions to be implemented where necessary.
“We reiterate that our forum respects the decision of the National Leadership of the SDP not to associate the party with the so -called coalition.
“We await further directives of the national working committee while we commit the loyalty of our members to the establishment of the SDP and the legitimate leadership of the party.
“Our members undertake to collaborate with any investigation established by the NWC to identify the transgressors. No amount of financial incentive or promises of bribes will guide the SDP state presidents to betray the part.
“Consequently, our members whose signatures have been forged or abused to send false letters to Incen have submitted complaints via the sworn oath subjected to both the Inc and the National Secretariat of the SDP.
“We urge the media members and the public in general to refrain from associating or accredit our forum and our members with this shameful encounter of unknown individuals.”
