Security officers kill two suspected armed robbers in Nasarawa

A joint team consisting of police and military on Saturday killed two suspected armed robbers in Nasarawa State.

State police spokesman Ramhan Nansel confirmed the development to reporters in Lafia.

He said the Karshi Divisional Office in Karu local government area received a distress call about an ongoing robbery operation around Karshi By-Pass at 3:10 am, on Saturday.

Nansel said: β€œAfter receiving the information, police officers in collaboration with the military immediately moved to the scene.

β€œWhen he saw the security officers, the armed robber opened fire at the joint team and a gun duel broke out.

β€œAs a result, two of the perpetrators died and were rushed to hospital. They later died while undergoing treatment and the other perpetrator survived with a gunshot wound.

β€œThe general area was combed by a joint team, where two suspects who are both males and indigenes of Bauchi State, but residents of Nyanya and Orange Market Mararaba, Karu LGA, were arrested in connection with the incident.

β€œThe items confiscated as evidence from the suspects include three bullet casings, three glasses, 19 mobile phones of different types.
