The Senator representing Adamawa South District, Binos Yaroe, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
This was revealed by Yare, Saturday, during an interactive session with journalists in Yola.
The senator said his decision to leave the PDP was based on political conviction, loyalty and commitment to ensuring the survival of a strong opposition in the country.
According to him, this step is part of a collective strategy of opposition parliamentarians to prevent Nigeria from falling into a one-party system.
“We cannot all move to the ruling party. If everyone joins the APC, there will be no opposition left in the country.
“Democracy thrives when there are strong voices of dissent,” Yaroe said.
He revealed that nine senators from various opposition parties, including the Labor Party, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and PDP, had jointly decided to defect to the ADC.
Yaroe explained that this step was aimed at strengthening opposition politics ahead of the 2027 elections.
The lawmaker said that after officially resigning from PDP membership on February 19, he initiated extensive consultations with political allies and other opposition lawmakers before deciding to join ADC.
According to him, his exit from the PDP followed extensive consultations with constituents in the nine Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Adamawa South Senatorial District.

Yaroe said the PDP had been divided due to internal crises, making it difficult for presidential candidates to confidently contest the election using its platform.
“I first consulted with my supporters in the nine local governments in my constituency.
“The PDP is divided into several factions and no one is sure which one is legitimate,” he said.
