Unless there is a last-minute change of heart, Samson Siasia, who recently returned from a suspension from football, will be part of the interim setup of the senior Nigeria national team for the AFCON 2025 qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda respectively, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Siasia was banned from coaching for five years over match-fixing allegations. He served his ban six days ago and is now free to return to his role in the dugout.
Talks have been held to have him in the interim setup of the Nigeria senior national team for the AFCON qualifiers as the NFF continues the search for a new substantial coach for the Nigeria senior national team.
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical director Austine Eguavoen will lead the team in both matches, with Siasia among the coaches assisting him in the new set-up for the two matches only.
His case is being pushed by the camp of Sports Minister Senator John Enoh, who will be key in approving interim coaches for the matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda on September 7 and 10 respectively.
