Singer Simi apologizes after receiving backlash for wearing swimsuit to the pool

Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko popular in the music world by the name Simi has taken to social media to apologise to her fans after she received backlash for wearing ‘inappropriate swimwear to the pool as a married woman.

The mother of one, in a post shared on her Instagram account on July 9, 2024, responded to the criticism in a humorous tone while discussing the issue and apologizing for her actions.

“I just came here feeling sorry; I went to the pool yesterday and I wore a swimsuit, guys, and I’m really sorry,” Simi began, acknowledging the backlash. “Honestly, I just wasn’t thinking; I wasn’t thinking.”

Simi, who started her career as a gospel singer and released her first studio album, Ogaju, in 2008, also joked that she would attend her next pool party wearing a kaftan.

“My friend said, ‘Sims, you can’t wear a swimsuit in the pool; you’re married.’ I should have known better; I didn’t, and I apologize.

“Next time I go to the pool, as a sign of respect for my husband, I will wear a kaftan. I will look better than my best. I don’t want to disappoint you,” she said.
