Sniffer Dog ‘Hero’ Bruno was killed by sausages filled with nails | World News

A “hero” sniffer dog has been killed by sausages filled with nails – with the Prime Minister of Italy calling it a “heinous, cowardly” action.

Bruno died of internal bleeding after the food was deliberately thrown into his cage in the southern city of Tarananto, according to his coach.

Arcangelo Caressa said the sniffer dogs would experience painful death – and warn the culprit: “I know who you are, and you will pay it.”

Writing on Facebook, he said his Bruno would “always be my hero”.

“You struggle for your whole life to help humans, and the same humans do this to you,” added Mr. Caressa.

Bruno has tracked nine people, including missing children and people with Alzheimer’s, Italian media reported.

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni Posting a photo of himself giving the dog award, wrote: “A heartbreaking news. Cruel action, cowardly, and unacceptable.

“Thank you for everything you have done, Bruno.”

Mr Caressa is a senior figure in anti-narcobic dog training, and struggles against activities such as illegal dog battles.

He told Il Messaggerro of his favorite pet “Not the real target, that’s me”.

He told the newspaper that he had received the threat of death in recent weeks.

“They want me to move aside. But I will never give up. This is a heinous attack, carried out for money and revenge,” he said.

Bruno’s death has triggered anger and widespread news coverage in Italy since he was found dead on Friday.

Many call for poisons to be prosecuted under the new animal protection law Italy.

This was sentenced to prison up to four years and a fine of £ 51,000 in cases where an animal was killed after the suffering or prolonged atrocities.
