Nigerian Army troops on Thursday thwarted an attempt to kidnap and kill five suspected terrorists in Sokoto State.
They also rescued two hostages held by terrorists.
The Army confirmed the development in a post on its X Handle on Thursday.
The force added that troops responded to a distress call from Baniguntu and Gohonau forest areas in Gudu local government area of ββthe state and engaged in a heavy firefight with the terrorists.
It said another terrorist who survived the encounter escaped with a gunshot wound
According to the army, the hostages identified as Nura Isya and Saluhu Hamza were safely handed over to the Gudu LGA chairman for medical attention and reunification with their families.
