Sowore to face police panels on Wednesday

The Presidential Candidate of the African Congress (ADC) in the 2023 election, Omoyle Sowore, will appear before the Police Inspector General Monitoring Unit (IGP) in Abuja on Wednesday.

The IGP monitoring unit has invited Sahara reporters of the petition sent by an unnamed person.

The activist confirmed his appearance at the headquarters of the troops in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

The statement reads: “The IGP monitoring unit has scheduled my interview for tomorrow (Wednesday) at 11:00 in the morning, but they refused to give a copy of the petition that was recognized to me.”

“Even so, I will respect the invitation, but not alone. I will go with a full house. For all our revolutionary colleagues, as usual, we move together. Let every fighter of freedom, every citizen of conscience, every voice of resistance gather tomorrow morning at Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja.”

He previously asked the police to reveal the identity of the applicant and the details of the petition against him.

But in a letter sent to the Sowore Advisor, Tope Temokun Chambers, on Tuesday and signed by the Head of the IGP Monitoring Unit, Akin Fakorede, the police promised to give details of the petition when he appeared before the team on Wednesday.

“I refer to your letter dated August 5, 2025, about the subject matter above and with respect to tell your client, Mr. Omoyle Sowore, that based on his request to reschedule the Gathering, New Date, August 6, 2025, at 11:30 am, it was scheduled for an interview with the Head of the IGP Monitoring Unit.

“A copy of the petition, which is the subject of police investigation, will be available to your client physically when he respects the invitation, in accordance with the police standard investigation procedure,” said the IGP Team.
