Sports Minister mourns death of House of Representatives member

The Minister for Sports Development, Senator John Owan-Enoh, has expressed sadness over the death of a member of the House of Representatives, representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, and Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, Ekene Adams, who passed away yesterday morning.

The former Labour Party (LP) lawmaker died at the age of 39 after a long illness.

However, in a statement signed by his South African media representative, Diana-Mary Nsan, the minister said Mr Adams was a great sports enthusiast.

β€œHonourable Ekene was a great sports enthusiast and played a major role in the growth and development of sports in Nigeria. I offer my sincere condolences to the family of Honourable Ekene.”

Honourable Adams, former CEO of Kada City FC and Remo Stars, was elected to the House of Representatives on the platform of the Labour Party (LP) in 2023.

For his sporting career as a former athlete and administrator, he was appointed President of the Sports Committee of the House of Representatives, a position he held until his death on the morning of Tuesday, July 16, 2024.
