Steve Harvey opened the decision to get out of the stand-up comedy

The legend of comedy Steve Harvey finally opened about why he stepped away from the stand-up stage, revealing that the entertainment landscape that developed made him rethink his career path.

Harvey, who opened in the Thursday night ‘The Pivot Podcast,’ explained that the revival of “Cancel Culture” played a major role in his decision.

Known for his brave humor and shipping without filter, the 67 -year -old man admitted that the current climate leaves a little space for comedians to freely express himself without fear of reaction.

When asked what the “acceptable joke” that can be made in the current comedy in the era of cultural cancellation, Harvey said that he decided to stop comedy because he had to let go of something.

“I even saw you in ‘Family Feud,’ sometimes, sometimes, I can see the hours of work where you get a joke, but you are not allowed to say the joke,” Channing Chowder’s host told Harvey.

“I understand. And see, it’s very difficult,” Harvey answered. “But that’s why I left a stand-up in 2012, 2015, one of them. I left the stand-up at that time because I had so many shows. I had built a work catalog like that. I made money. I had to release something.”

“And if I travel on weekends, I won’t even have a family,” added the father of seven. “So I let the stand-up leave because I saw changes coming.”

Harvey confirmed that “change is inevitable” and says he knows he needs to get out of the stand-up before it’s too late.

“You have to react or participate. So my participation is to stay away from it because of the culture of cancellation, starting to become anywhere,” he explained.

“Comedy is too difficult to do now. And all you have to do is look at the current way of cancellation culture.”

“You get podcasts and you do it brilliantly,” Harvey added to the host.

“Please don’t stop doing what you do. The problem with people is, they get something that works and then they want to find something that works better. You don’t have to fix it if it’s not damaged.” He added.
