Kaspersky analysis showed a 66% increase in password thieves in Nigeria in H1 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, in addition to an increase of 53% in blocked spyware. Exploitation of vulnerability targeting in applications such as Microsoft Office is also common.
Although the total amount of phishing detection decreased by 52%, the threat of phishing became more targeted, with a focus on certain topics; For example, special phishing related to financial topics (banks, e-shop, and payment systems) is increasing and growing 46% (Kaspersky records more than 595,000 financial detection related to finance in this country).
