Sultan asks Muslims to look for New Moon of Rabi’ul Awwal

The sultan of Sokoto and the General Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Nigeria, Alhaji Mohammed Sa’ad Abubakar LLL, recommended Ummah Muslims to start looking for New Moon of Rabi’ul Awwal from Saturday 23 August and reporting his sighting to the closest district head for Sulta

This was contained in a press declaration issued and made available to Sokoto journalists by the President, Consultative Committee for Religious Affairs, Council of the Sultanate, Sokoto. Professor Sambo Walijunaidu, Wazirin Sokoto.

The declaration states in part: “This is to inform the Umbmah Muslims that Saturday 23 August 2025, which is equivalent to the 29th of Safar1446 Ah will be the day to search for the moon of Rabi’u Awwal 1446 ah

“Muslims are therefore requested to start looking for the new moon of Rabi’ul Awwal Saturday and to report his sighting to the clothes closest to the communications following his eminence, the sultan of Sokoto and the general president of the Supreme Council for Islamic affairs in Nigeria, Alhaji Mohammad Sa’ad Abubakar Lll.”

Month of Rabi’ul Awwal is the third month of the Islamic calendar and it is the month that some Muslims sect celebrate the birthday of the noble prophet Pubuh
