Sunny Ade responds to old rumors about her dating the late singer Onyeka Onwenu

Veteran Nigerian juju singer and songwriter, Chief Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye popularly known as King Sunny Ade has responded to long-standing rumors of him dating late singer Onyeka Onwenu.

While visiting the late singer’s family, King Sunny Ade explained why he did not respond to rumors of a romantic relationship between himself and Onyeka Onwenu.

In a candid statement, KSA stated that the accusations were a calculated marketing ploy to support their hit song, “Wait for Me.” “It was a ploy we did,” he said. For the music, of course. Our goal was to introduce “Wait for Me.” Back then, people thought he was my boyfriend. He never said yes or no to me.

KSA also paid emotional tribute to Onwenu, calling her an extraordinary woman who provided invaluable guidance and assistance throughout their working relationship. “He agreed to sit with you. ‘May I help with some advice?’ that’s how he used to ask. And the guidance given was always the best,” he recalled.
