Super Eagles crashes after a heavy 4-0 defeat against the impressive side of Sudan-Thage

Sudan delivered a 4-0 victory over Nigeria to Zanzibar, eliminating the Super Eagles from Chan Pamoja 2025 with a remaining group match.

Jediane’s Falscons went up to the top of group D following their dominant performance at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium on Tuesday evening.

The elimination of Nigeria was confirmed after managing zero points from their two games, leaving them unable to reach the direct elimination phases regardless of the final result of the group.

The opening period saw Nigeria create different opportunities through sets of pieces before Sudan happened on defensive errors to take control.

Leonard Ngenge’s unfortunate goal in the 25th minute gave Sudan the turning point after Abdel Raouf Yagoub’s effort bounced from woodworking.

Captain Walieldin Khdir doubled the advantage from the penalty to the 44th minute after NGenge’s handball inside the area.

Nigeria had a goal not allowed for offside through Anthony Ijoma in the 22nd minute, while Sikiru Alimi lost two clear possibilities before the interval.

Yagoub emerged from the changing rooms to dominate the second half with a double clinician who sealed the fate of Nigeria.

The midfielder found the corner at the bottom with a precise finish on the left in the 55th minute after an excellent game of accumulation by Musa Hussien.

Seven minutes later, Yagoub completed his guardian by shooting Sudan’s fourth goal from the central position after his team won possession and launched a quick counterattack. Raymond Tochukwu of Nigeria hit the pole at the end of the game, summarizing their frustrating evening in front of the goal.

The tactical approach of the Ghana Kwesi Appiah coach proved to be effective during the competition, with Sudan who maintained their defensive shape while exploiting the space on the hips during the transitions.

The result leaves the level of Sudan on four points with the Senegal reigning samples, which were kept at a 1-1 draw by the Congo at the beginning of the day. Sudan currently guides group D with Goal’s difference with five goals scored and one granted in two games.

The Nigeria campaign has produced zero goals while it suffers five, highlighting their struggles both in the attacker and defensive phases. The Super Eagles will face the Congo in their final group meeting with only pride, while Sudan will meet Senegal in a decisive meeting that could determine the group winner.
