Super Eagles star apologizes for disciplinary matter

Nigerian midfielder Alex Iwobi has apologized following his red card incident during the international friendly against Jordan.

Speaking in a recent vlog, Iwobi admitted that his reaction in the closing stages of the match fell below expectations and extended his apologies to his teammates, staff and fans of Nigerian football.

He also noted that the team can still take positive things from the game despite the incident.

“I think I was talking about what I did and apologizing to all my fellow Nigerians and all the people who care about Nigeria. My actions were not good enough, I’m sorry. It’s done, we have to move on, he’s gone, we didn’t lose the game, we have to take the positive from it.”

Iwobi was sent off in second-half stoppage time after a heated altercation with Amer Jamous.

The incident occurred when Jamous cynically stopped him during a Nigerian counterattack, prompting an angry reaction from Iwobi that led to a physical confrontation.

The match referees later deemed it violent conduct, leading to his dismissal.
