The claims of striker Bayer Leverkusen Victor Boniface that some players of the Nigerian senior team are not compromised when they play for the team has not dropped well with many of the players.
Boniface in an interview last week regretted the attitude of some of his teammates, while in international service they say they don’t care if the team wins or loses.
“If some of my teammates go to the national team, they feel that, we go, we play, whether we win or lose, it doesn’t matter,” Boniface said in the Podcast of the League of Culture.
“I’m always trying to tell you that we are millions in Nigeria. I think we have the highest population in Africa.”
In reaction to his comments, a senior player in the team said that it is the most unfortunate thing that anyone should say of his teammates, especially at a time like this when the team is in a difficult position in the World Cup qualifiers and tries to advance with a new coach.
“The comments only came to most of us a few days ago. No one should talk about their teammates that way, but as he did not mention names, I will not answer with my name too, but I will say some things about his person,” he told Owngoalnigeria.com.
“In the AFCon classifiers game against Rwanda in Uyo in part time, a senior player in the team almost slapped Bonifacio for his lack of efforts. You can ask other players what happened before the second half.
β’ In Russia he was started in part time and published that he has renounced the team, only for him to eliminate it later. If there is someone who is not serious and does not seem that he cares about his boniface, who is the first to lower social networks after a defeat most of the time.
“When Austine Eguavoen was an interim coach. I know the number of times he lamented Boniface’s lack of commitment to play for the super eagles. He was probably talking about himself, not any other player in the team,” he concluded.
