Nigeria’s senior team had its first training session yesterday ahead of the opening match of the four-team invitational tournament against Iran tomorrow, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
In the absence of the injured Calvin Bassey, 21 players participated in the session supervised by coach Eric Chelle and his assistants. It lasted almost two hours, although most of it was light exercises.
The focus was more on the three newly invited players: Hamburg’s Philip Otele, Belgian Genk’s Yira Sor and Rangers’ Emmanuel Fernandez, based in Scotland.
All three behaved very well and integrated with the rest of the team throughout the session, which also had the goalkeepers training at one end of the field.
The trio of Francis Uzoho, Maduka Okoye and Adebayo Adeleye were involved with Uzoho who is expected to start showing very good reflexes and ball distribution.
Later today they will have their last training session, where they will get an idea of how the team will line up for tomorrow’s game.
