Super Falcons star completes move to French club Montpellier

Super Falcons forward Ifeoma Onumonu has joined French women’s side D’Arkema Montpellier.

Onumonu joined La Paillade from NWSL side Utah Royals.

The 30-year-old is the first Nigerian to sign for Montpellier.

The forward will play for a club outside the United States for the first time.

“I’m very happy to be here today. I’m looking forward to discovering my new club and this new living environment,” she told AFP. official club website.

β€œI needed a change. I have played in the United States all my career and for my club until now and I had in mind the desire to discover European football. When this opportunity presented itself here in Montpellier, I didn’t hesitate.”

Club president Laurent Nicollin also welcomed Onumonu to the club: β€œI am very happy that Ifeoma is joining us to strengthen our attack. I hope that she will adapt very quickly to her new surroundings and that she will bring a lot to the team.”
