Suspected herdsmen kill 7 in Benue community

Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen killed seven people in Naka community, Gwer West local government area, Benue State on Tuesday.

Several people were injured in the attack which occurred early in the morning.

Residents told reporters that the attackers stormed the area on motorbikes at around 5:00 a.m. and fired sporadically to scare residents who were still sleeping at the time.

They also let their livestock graze freely on farmland and destroy crops.

State police spokesperson Catherine Anene confirmed the incident.

However, he promised to brief reporters when details of the incident became available.
