Suspension: I will face the appeal court for the interpretation of the legal impasse – Natasha

The suspended senator who represents the central senatorial district of Kogi, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Usaghan, says that he will approach the Court of Appeal for the interpretation of the legal impasse between her and the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.

Akpoti-Auduaghan made this known as he spoke with journalists in Abuja Tuesday after being refused the entry into the National Assembly complex by the security staff.

Freedomonline reports that the suspended senator had challenged a heavy bloc of security on Tuesday and arrived at the complex of the national assembly on foot from Mopol’s door, accompanied by a crowd of supporters.

The legislator, whose suspension by the Senate was contested in court, parked his vehicle outside the premises of the National Assembly and crossed Mopol’s main door, in the company of some activists, including Aisha Yesufu.

Speaking with the journalists, Akpoti-Auduaghan, who challenged the rain, insisted on the fact that his suspension was not only unjust but also procedurally imperfect.

“Even the suspension, AB Initio, was fraudulent. The document that recommended my suspension was not even attested by the members of the Committee. It was only a photocopy of a sheet of participation transmitted as their signatures.

“There is no reason, contrary to the publications I read yesterday (Monday), that I should not resume today because the Senate appealed to my suspension judgment.

“It is wrong. What I appealed is the contempt and this is separated. The judgment has arrived in two parts.

“One was to face the contempt that is based on the letter of satirical apologies that I made on Facebook that the judge thought it was wise in his passage that is equivalent to contempt.

“But I am clearly saying that this does not equate to the contempt of the court because before the judge Binta Nyako it was not the question of sexual harassment; it was the question of suspension,” he said.

The senator said that if he decided to return home, this did not mean that he was not unaware of the fact that the national assembly would enter a two -month break, starting from Wednesday.

“If we decide to turn our back and go home, we do not ignore the fact that the national assembly will most likely be for recreation tomorrow (Wednesday) for two months.

“And they will resume practically in the last week of September and, as you rightly said, this means that I would practically serve the suspension of six months.

“I am saying it because for now I am no longer suspended. And there is something very important that I would like to say that the suspension, AB Initio, was fraudulent,” he said.
