SWAN president, others ASABA arrive for the 9th kick -off of New York

Thursday, the president of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (Swan), Isaiah Benjamin, arrived in Asaba, in the capital of the Delta state for the ninth edition of the National Youth Games scheduled for the kick -off of the beginning of Friday 29 August 2025.

A declaration by the Secretary General of Swan, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo, revealed that other members of the National Executive Committee SWAN (NEC) and of the state chapters and secretaries, as well as teeming with sports journalists of Nigeria are on the ground for the games that take place between August 26 and September 6, 2026.

A tour of camping offices for athletes and officials, as well as the screening/competition arena on arrival by the president of the swan, revealed that the activities are gradually collecting with the contingents of various states that are established for business.

Speaking, President Benjamin said he hopes that the edition of this year’s competition will produce future stars who will proudly make their states and Nigeria.

He said: “First of all, I want to thank God for the safe journey, he granted the various state contingents and officials of the National Sports Commission.

“The competition that is designed for U15 athletes is such that you should discover young people for the future. As usual, the stage is set and we expect nothing but a good exit for all participants.

“I expect everyone, in particular my colleagues, are at the top of their functions. Make the fact that all sports journalists check their information and sources before sending or publishing them.”

He also said that the accreditation during sports journalists should cover the games, it will be strictly for those who are registered members of the association.
