Swan sets the National Prize Committee of Jubilee Diamonds, appoints Abdulgafar Oladimeji as president

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (Swan) has inaugurated a committee for the national prizes of Diamond Jubilee to supervise the conferral of honors on individuals and organizations that have contributed to the growth of sport and social development in Nigeria.

The award ceremony will be part of the activities that marks the 60th anniversary of Swan, the national umbrella body of sports journalists in the country.

According to a declaration by the National Cigno Secretariat, the Committee has the task of identifying and recommending the deserving recipients in various categories of the Swan National Awards, in line with the statutes of the Association.

The appointment letters, signed by the national secretary, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo, confirmed the composition of the Committee as follows:

Abdulgafar Oladimeji – President

Jibo Zakari – Representative of the North East

Eche Emos – North Central representative

Akintunde Akinsemola – South representative -ovest

Victor Okoye – FCT representative

Chigozie Chukwuleta – South representative -est (secretary)

Kehinde Ken Osagiede – Representative of the South South

Okonkwo observed that the committee’s mandate is to guarantee a transparent process in the selection of exceptional people, public figures and corporate organizations with proven records in the development of sport and other areas of social impact.
