The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says it has completed restoration work on the Kainji–Birnin Kebbi 330kV Single Circuit Transmission Line, which was out of service for about three weeks due to the collapse of Tower 367 in Yauri, Kebbi State.
The company confirmed the successful restoration of the line to service at 17:24 on Thursday, October 1, 2026, after its engineers completed emergency work at the affected location.
The development was contained in a statement signed by TCN management and presented to journalists on Friday.
According to the company, “The Kainji–Birnin Kebbi 330kV Single Circuit Transmission Line, which was taken out of service following the collapse of Tower 367 on September 7, 2026, has been restored to service.”
TCN said the restoration was carried out through the installation of an Emergency Restoration System tower at the location of the collapsed tower in Yauri.
“Restoration work includes dismantling and decommissioning of collapsed towers, alignment and preparation of conductors and skywires, erection of ERS towers, and execution of other related work necessary to safely restore the line,” the company said.
The transmission company said its engineers are “working around the clock” to complete repairs and return the line to service as quickly and safely as possible.
The Kainji–Birnin Kebbi transmission line is an important component of the electricity transmission network serving parts of the North West region, including Kebbi and surrounding areas. Power outages following the tower collapse on September 7 have affected power transmission along the corridor.
This restoration is expected to strengthen the reliability of electricity supply through affected transmission corridors, although electricity supply to consumers will also depend on available generation, distribution network conditions, and other factors in the electricity value chain.
TCN thanks electricity consumers in the affected areas for their patience and understanding during the power outage.
