TCN takes the anti-vandalism campaign in the Edo communities

Benin (basic reporter) The Nigeria transmission company (TCN) continues its fight against vandalism and to prevent illegal excavations around the transmission towers by organizing another awareness program in the Umelu community, Benin City, Edo State. It was held on August 20, 2025, in the Palazzo dell’Endogie of the Community of Unelu, the event aimed to educate the members of the community and the public generally on the dangers of vandalization and invasion of transmission infrastructures.

In his address, the general manager, the transmission, the Benin region, Engr. CC Iwuamadi has expressed his appreciation for the community for their continuous efforts for the protection of transmission infrastructures located in their domain. He underlined the importance of collaboration in the protection of national resources, warning that the tampering of these infrastructures can have devastating consequences on lives, properties and sustainability of the national network.

The exercise has attracted the main parties concerned, including heads of the community, youth leader, representatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) and press members. By committing to the community and the parties concerned, TCN is adopting a holistic approach to curb vandalism and illegal excavation to guarantee the safety of its structures. This initiative underlines the company’s commitment to protect national activities and promote a stable power supply.

This awareness program in Benin is part of the national campaign in progress to raise awareness of the importance of protecting transmission infrastructures. At the beginning of the year, TCN had successfully organized programs similar to Abuja, Port Harcourt, Lagos and Enugu, working with local communities and interested parties to promote collaboration in the fight against vandalism.
