The administrator of the former military dies at 69

Colonel Joseph Irshager Akaagger (RTD) died.
The former military administrator of the State of Katsina, from August 1998 to May 1999, was 69.

A lawyer and indigenous of Benue’s state, Benue Northeast in the Senate represented from 2007 to 2011.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of the State of Katsina confirmed death.

Radda said he received the news of the disappearance of Akaggerer, who was born on May 5, 1956, with shock and pain.

The Governor said that Akaagger served as a military administrator of the State of Katsina and recalled his immense contribution to the state during a period of critical transition in the history of Nigeria.
In a statement issued on his behalf by his main press secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Radda said: “In the short but of great impact he spent guiding the affairs of our state, he built bridges that resisted the test of time.

“Today we do not cry just a former military administrator: we cry a brother who has tied Katsina and Benue with friendship strings that death cannot recover.
“After his illustrious military career and administration in Katsina, he returned to his state of origin where the people of the Benue Nord Est entrusted their mandate as a senator in April 2007.

“The life of Colonel Akaagger has exemplified the rare combination of military discipline, legal brilliance and unwavering commitment for democratic values”.

On behalf of the government and the good people of the State of Katsina, Radda expressed condolences to the governor Hyacinth at the State of Benue, and to the Akaagger family following the disappearance of an elderly statesman.

The governor also stressed that the deceased Akaagger could be Benue’s son for birth, but became Katsina’s son for service.

“While greeting this legal luminary, the distinct soldier and the true servant of the people, we find comfort in the bequests of the unit, an altruistic service and the unshakable integrity that has left behind. He can forgive his deficiencies and he can find his family to find the strength to bear this irreparable loss”, prayed to the governor.
