The Popular Party (App) of Action People (App) threatened to boycott the local government’s elections scheduled for August 30th in the State.
The president of the party in the state, Sunny Wokekoro, revealed it in an interview with our correspondent Thursday in Port Harcourt.
According to him, the decision to boycott the elections is based on a directive of the National Party Secretariat and the Inter-Party Consultative Council (IPAC).
Wakekoro observed that the party’s peak body and the IPAC had recommended political parties to avoid the elections.
“Despite our decision to give up the elections, we (apps) remain a formidable political force here in the rivers.
“We all know how we recorded a landslide victory in the elections of the local government of 5 October 2024.
“Our current position does not mean the end of the app in the state,” he said.
The president of the app also rejected the rumors that went around the fact that the leader of the state party was no longer.
According to him, I remain the only president of the party recognized in the state.
