The army intercepted 242 pockets of fertilizer to Eid production in Borno

The Battalion Task Force 151, the Nigerian Army, has intercepted 242 NPK fertilizer bags that were allegedly diverted for the production of improvisation explosives (IEDs) by terrorists in Borno States.

A source at the Army headquarters confirmed development for journalists on Friday in Abuja.

He said the operation underlined the vigilance of the army in cutting critical logistics for rebels.

The source added that the troops, which were placed in BANKI Junction in the Bama regional government of the state, intercepted a truck carrying 142 pockets of NPK fertilizer 20-10-10 on Wednesday.

He said the preliminary examination showed that shipping, was approved for shipping to Malala Ward in Chibok Lga, was even diverted through Bama on the journey of Askira-Uba, increasing suspicion of terrorist relations.

“In related development, troops from 21 military intelligence regiments in collaboration with 21 Provost Company intercepted other trucks which were laden with 100 NPK fertilizer bags 20-10-10, 79 corn bags, and 21 rice bags in BANKI.

“The fertilizer is not reflected in the Waybill presented, and the driver claims he does not know the delivery, it’s just that he is paid to send it in the city of BANKI.

“The suspects and goods are detained for further investigation,” he said.
