The troops of the Nigerian army saved seven passengers kidnapped and arrested nine suspicions of terrorist informants during a series of operations through the Zamfara, Katsina and Sokoto.
A main military source confirmed the development of the Nigeria news agency on Thursday, observing that the raids were conducted under the Fansan Yamma operation, the offensive in progress against terrorists and bandits in the North-West.
In the state of Katsina, the troops of the 17 brigade responded to a rescue call along the Sheme -Funtu motorway, where the terrorists had blocked the road with two trucks and kidnapped travelers.
The soldiers hired armed men in a fierce shooting, forcing them to abandon their prisoners. Seven victims have been saved uncertainly.
In the same way, in the state of Zamfara, the troops of the 1 brigade organized an ambush against the terrorists in the magazine village, the area of the local government of Tsafe, seizing four motorcycles and an improvised explosive device during the meeting.
In addition, the soldiers stationed at the forward operational base, Galadi, in Shinkafi LGA, rejected an attack coordinated by heavily armed terrorists who ride a motorcycle.
The troops, supported by reinforcements, successfully followed the base after removing the attackers.
In the state of Sokoto, patrol troops arrested nine suspicions of terrorist informants and logistical suppliers in Yaka, Boto and Bachaka Villages in the area of the local government of Gudu.
Head of the army staff, Lt.-Gen. Oluyede Oluyedes, who visited Katsina on Wednesday to evaluate the operations, praised the troops for their resilience.
He urged them to remain professional and disciplined while assured the Nigerians that the military would support his offensive against criminal elements.
> “The Nigerian army will not cease to crush terrorists, bandits and other criminal groups that threaten peace in our country. We urge citizens to support our operations with timely and credible information,” said Oluyede.
