The band pulled out of the festival after group ‘Cut Off’ Over Palestine Flag | English news

Some bands have withdrawn from the music festival that won only a few hours before the scheduled show, following claims by the Irish group of The Mary Walllopers that they were “cut” to display the Palestinian flag.

The last dinner party, Cliffords, and academics announced on Saturday that they would no longer appear at the annual music festival at Portsmouth after the Friday incident.

The organizer, who said the band set was cut to use the “discriminatory” song, since then apologized and promised to provide “substantial contributions for humanitarian assistance efforts to the Palestinian people”.

The last dinner party rock band said they were “angry” by the incident and would boycott the festival.

“We are angry with the decision made to silence Mary’s wall yesterday at Victorious. As a band we cannot look at the political sensor and therefore will boycott the festival today,” they said in a statement distributed on their Instagram pages.

“Because Gazans deliberately plunged into the starving of the disaster after two years of increasing violence, it is very urgent and clear that artists use their platforms to attract attention to the cause.

“To see efforts to direct the attention of genocide to maintain the image of Apolitis is very disappointing.”

The last dinner said that throughout the summer, they had used their appearance to encourage their audience to make a donation to the medical charity body that supported Palestinians and urged their fans “more than before to do the same”.

The band said they were “destroyed to be placed in this position” and apologized to those who hoped to see them perform.

Following the Set Wallipers Mary, a spokesman for Victorious said: “We talked to the artist before the performance of the old festival policy not to allow flags in any form at the event, but we respect their right to express their views during the show.

“Although a flag is displayed on the stage contrary to our policy, and this is appointed with the crew, the show does not end at this time, and that is the artist’s decision to stop the song.”

The Mary Wallipers claimed that the festival had released “misleading statements to the press that claimed they cut our votes because of discriminatory songs, and not band calls to free Palestinians”.

The band said their video “clearly showed the winning crew members who came on the stage, disturbing our show, removing the flag from the stage and then the sound was cut to follow the song ‘Free Palestine'”.

“The same crew member was then heard in the video that said ‘You don’t play until the flag is deleted’,” added the band.

The academic rock band also withdrew from the festival, said they could not “in a good conscience” “Appear” A festival that silenced freedom of speech “, while the Irish band Cliffords said they” refused to play if we wanted to be censored because it showed our support to people in Palestine “.

After the band’s announcement that they withdrew from the festival, the organizer released another statement, saying that they did not handle “our policy explanation sensitively or far enough in advance to enable reasonable conclusions to be achieved”, and issued an apology.
