The president of the National Association of Nigerian Professional Footders (Nanpf), the chapter of the state of Enugu, the coach Ebere Amraiizu, invited the owners of football clubs and sports administrators to shift attention beyond technical and tactical training and start giving priority to the holistic well -being of athletes.

Coach Amraiizu, a certificate of certificate of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and the main consultant at COPE and the Live Mental Health Aware Foundation, made this call while dealing with the growing concern for the mental, emotional, psychological, social and spiritual well -being of the players.

According to him, the well -being of the players should be treated as a fundamental pillar for the development of sport and the productivity of athletes. “It is no longer acceptable to rely exclusively on tactical and technical preparations ignoring the psychological and emotional needs of our players,” he said.

Amarazu stressed that many athletes have unresolved personal struggles that, if unattended, can have a negative impact on their performance regardless of their technical skills. “Studies have shown that every human being has a story in difficulty. This struggle affects athletes emotionally, psychologically and socially – and can significantly hinder productivity within and off the pitch,” he observed.

He condemned the calls of calls and indebted that players often face from coaches, from the club management and even to fans, adding that this behavior, combined with inconsistent wage payments and bad conditions of well -being, contribute to the challenges of mental health faced by many sports professionals.

“Too many players are left to their destiny after having suffered injuries, often becoming charges for themselves and their families. This must change,” he underlined.

To deal with these problems, Amraizu has supported the creation of complete welfare paintings within the clubs. This includes a rapid payment of salaries and indemnities, establishment of trauma and consultancy units and dietary and psychological support programs to integrate medical departments.

“Holistic well -being is not a luxury; it’s a necessity,” he said. “We must create systems that support the emotional, psychological and spiritual health of our athletes if we are seriously willing to advance Nigerian football.”

He concluded by urge the clubs to collaborate with Nanpf in promoting the well -being of athletes, stressing that supporting players during their career and beyond is essential for the development of sustainable sport.

“Lessions to one is an injury to everyone. We give our athletes the care and support they really deserve,” he added.
