The Chairperson of the Labor Party Caucus at the House of Representatives, Afam Ogene, on Friday blamed the mass defending of parliamentary members from the party to the Congress of All Progressive (APC) to the former chairman, the failure of Julius Abure’s leadership.
Ogene spoke with journalists in Abuja.
He stressed that Abure’s violence triggered mass defeats to the ruling party.
The Supreme Court last week fired Abure as the Chairperson of the National LP.
At least six federal parliament members chosen on the LP platform switched to APC in January over the party’s internal crisis.
Ogene said: “Politicians always plan for the next election. So in Abure’s style, they think there is a future for them again in the party.

“Therefore, they must go in a hurry. But some of us who strongly believe in the rule of law must be fixed and compete with Abure for the good of the party.”
However, the member of the parliament said the Caucus of the Labor Party in the DPR did not decrease despite the defense.
Ogene, who convinced a stronger and better labor party, said that Abure’s office officially ended in June 2024.
He accused that the former chairman was selfish in the pursuit of his political.
This, he said, made Abure refuse to surrender the leadership position in the north as planned by stakeholders.
He assured Nigerians from the Labor Party who were revived and resilient in the coming months.
The member of the parliament confirmed the feasibility of the Labor Party as an opposition political party, said that Peter Obi remained the only formidable opposition in the country.
