The CDs reiterate the AFN commitment towards peace and partnership

Abuja (basic reporter) in an attempt to promote civil-military cooperation, the head of the defense staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, Tuesday 8 July 2025, made a courtesy visit to the honorable Minister of State for regional development, his excellence Alhaji Maigari Uba Ahmadu, at the head of Abuja.
According to a press declaration by the director’s defense director, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, the visit was intended to promote mutual understanding and strengthening of civil-military cooperation for national development.
During the visit, General Musa underlined the strong link between peace and development, affirming: “The communities with more development often enjoy more peace”. He reaffirmed the armed forces of the unwavering commitment of Nigeria (AFN) to support the regional initiatives of the Ministry and contribute significantly to national growth.
The CDs expressed gratitude to the Ministry for his assistance in the formation of the AFN special forces, noting that this support significantly improves the operational capacity of the military and improves national security.
General Musa has also ensured the Ministry of continuous collaboration and support of the headquarters of defense to ensure that it effectively provides its constitutional mandate.
In his observations, the honorable Minister of State for regional development, Alhaji Maigari Uba Ahmadu, warmly welcomed the CDs and his delegation, describing the visit as a historic. He reiterated the role of supervision of the Ministry on regional commissions and praised the AFN for his sacrifices in safeguarding the unity and territorial integrity of Nigeria.
The minister also paid tribute to the Galanti officers and soldiers who made the maximum sacrifice in defense of the nation. He praised the military initiatives, in particular his educational support programs, including the institution of schools for children of repentant insurgents. Alhaji Uba Ahmadu expressed confidence in the ability of the Nigerian army to overcome current safety challenges for the country.
