Bayelsa’s state commissioner for information, orientation and strategy, Mrs.ebiuwou Koku Obiyai, urged journalists to guarantee a balanced and verified report to maintain credibility and equity.
He made the call during a courtesy visit of the neo -Elegi of the managers of the chapel of the United Correspondents (KM) of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (Nuj) in his office in Yenagoa.
Obiyai underlined the importance of cross -controlled control information to combat misleading statements, underlining that journalists must seek all the sides of a story before publishing.

He expressed relief for the recent peaceful resolution of a dispute between the state government and some journalists, facilitated by the intervention of the state and praised journalists for their role in the de-coat of the matter.
The commissioner congratulated the new UCC leadership and praised the collaboration of the media with his ministry in promoting government initiatives.
He highlighted the vital role of the media in public education on governance, infrastructures and other key issues, detecting strong work relationships with private and public media professionals.
Responding to UCC requests for office equipment, including a generator and a TV, Obiyai promised to consider a formal proposal if presented.
The president of the UCC, Mr. Ekaukumo Amste, thanked the commissioner for the meeting and praised the administration of the governor Douye Diri for transformative projects, including road networks, the international stage of Bayelsa and the new development of the city of Yenagoa.
He reiterated the UCC commitment to advertise the progress of the state and appealed to greater opportunities for members to cover government activities.
Ams also sought support for assistance in facing some of their challenges, such as the supply of a set of generation and a television, and has promised continuous use of multimedia platforms to promote the development agenda of Bayelsa.
