Aladima Eziala Ogwu, in the autonomous community of Nguru Nwenkwo Ogwu, about Mbaise, has formally announced a ban on the sale and distribution of hard drugs within the community. In an attempt to maintain safety and to support common values, leadership has also designated a central position in which iron traders must conduct business.
The announcement was made during a recent meeting by Aladima Eziala, where the president of the community, Nzea Ugochukwu Nwachukwu-Udoaku, underlined the urgent need for supervision. He invited all the Awurawu (related leaders) to Eziala Ogwu to take responsibility for identifying and exhibiting any drug dealer within their jurisdictions.
“Any AWURAWU who is unable to report or act against drug dealers in their kinship will be held responsible for the consequences of these illegal activities,” Nzechukwu-Udoaku warned.
In response to the growing security concerns raised by the members of Eziala Ogwu both at home and in the diaspora, the community has also taken measures to simplify and guarantee iron trading. Iron traders and buyers have been recommended to assemble their goods in the community square, where all transactions will now take place. This move, says the leadership, will facilitate better commercial practices and improve community safety.
The leadership of the community reiterated its commitment to an Ediala Ogwu without drugs and economically vibrant and urged all residents to support these initiatives.
