The court rejects Falana’s lawsuit against VDM

Judge Matthias Dawodu from the Lagos High Court, Ikeja, on Tuesday rejected the defamation lawsuit filed by Nigerian senior advocate, Femi Falana, against Instagram celebrity, Martins Otse alias Verydarkblackman (VDM).

Falana and his son, Folan alias Falz, filed the lawsuit after a controversial cross-dresser, Okuneye Idris alias Bobrisky, accused them of deviations from justice in audio recordings

The prosecutors demanded that the N500 million as a damage to the video posted by VDM on his social media platform.

When the case was called on Tuesday, Falana, his son, and VDM were not in court.

However, legal counsel to respondents, Mr. Niyi Alagbe, who held briefly for Mr. Marvin Omorogbe, told the court that he had previously submitted a request to live before the Judge Fimisola Azeez.

Advisor for Falanas, Mr. Omotayo Olatunbosun, in his response, told the court that he received the application on Monday night.

Olatunbosun argues that the problem of that day was a preliminary objection, which he said was ripe to be heard,

He urged the judge to continue with business that day.

However, in his decision, Judge Matthias Dawodu said that the application in question was not in the file and wondered why he had problems with the case when a substantive lawsuit before another court.

He attacked the lawsuit and argued that it would be an academic training to continue because of a substantive lawsuit in front of other judges.

“As a result, this lawsuit hereby attacks,” the judge said.
