The court will decide on El-Rufai’s bail application on April 14

Justice Rilwan Aikawa of the Federal High Court, Kaduna, on Wednesday set April 14 for ruling on the bail application filed by former state governor Nasir El-Rufai.

The Independent Commission on Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses (ICPC) charged El-Rufai with 10 counts for alleged conversion and possession of public property as well as money laundering.

Counsel to the former governor, Mr Oluwole Iyamu (SAN), confirmed the development to journalists shortly after the hearing.

Journalists were not allowed into the courtroom to cover the day’s proceedings.

Iyamu said the bail application was debated by both parties and the judge then postponed the decision.

“The bail application has been debated and responded to, and a decision on bail has been set for April 14,” he said.

The attorney expressed optimism that the court would provide a fair decision.

“Any lawyer would be hopeful. We are hopeful. We have presented our arguments to the court, and this is the court. We look forward to the court’s decision,” he added.
