The customs seizes the petrol of the smuggling N63m, five vehicles


The special team of the customs service of Nigeria, Operation Whirlwind, seized the smuggling of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), otherwise known as petrol, for a value of N63,036 million and five vehicles in the state of Adamawa.

The Customs General Controller, adwale Adeniyi, revealed it to Yola printing briefing, the capital of the state of Adamawa, on Friday 23 May 2025.

Adeniyi, who was represented by the national coordinator of the Whirlwind operation, Hussein Ejibunu, said: “The Whirlwind operation had repositioned all its machinery throughout the area of ​​its responsibilities and ensured that the border became a watertight.

“This had made it difficult for the economic sabotors to carry out their smuggling activities.”

The customs chief said that the seized petrol will be auctioned to the public immediately following its flammable nature, as required by the NCS law, 2023, and the standard operating procedures while the procedure will be put back in the Federation account.

Adeniyi appreciated the security agencies and other parties interested for their support and cooperation and invited the communities to provide useful information to face the threat of smuggling.
