A priest, David Love, husband of the late Mrs Shimite Love, former special councilor of the Governor of the Delta for trade and export, prayed for justice on what he described as his wife’s “illegal burial”.
Love, who spoke in a press conference in Abuja on Saturday, urged the police inspector to investigate the police monitoring unit for presumably compromising their duties and releasing remains of his deceased wife without an order of the court.
According to him, “I ask the IGE to claim the property of my wife who was detected, also raising the public to dissuade from the accusations in the newspapers that I killed my wife.
“My prayer is primarily for the police inspector, because my wife was illegally buried without my consent.
“The monitoring unit must be studied and forced to return my wife’s phone, who are still keeping months after her burial.
“Secondly, all my wife’s things by law should come to me as her legal husband. Even the interference of people and neighbors compromised in civil matters must be stopped.”
The clergy said that his wife’s family, in connivance with some neighbors and government officials, has strongly hired a house furnished with four bedrooms that the couple owned in Asaba, the delta.
He said the property was divided and the valuables, including a vehicle, were taken away.
He also said that his wife’s corpse was released to his family for the burial against the right trial, despite the evidence of their marriage and official documents that bore his name.

“They also went on to bury her in the name of her ex -husband. I was not part of the burial, which was against the marriage law,” he added.
Love insisted on the fact that his deceased wife, who changed his official records after their marriage in January 2024, was known by colleagues and the state government by his surname.
He said that the couple formalized their wedding on January 18, 2024, with a registration wedding, followed by the completion of traditional rites on January 19th.
He rejected the statements that their union was not legally recognized, insisting on the fact that civil and customary requirements were met.
Narrative events that lead to his death, he said he got sick on April 18, complaining of pain in the chest and stomach similar to what he had experienced the previous year.
Love said that his wife, who constantly refused admission to the hospital, on April 19 sought the service of a pharmacist who treated her home, administered drops and monitored her conditions for two days.
However, in the early hours of April 21, his health deteriorated.
“She woke up around 2 am asking for water, then became restless and started vomiting.
“With the help of the security staff and neighbors, we took it to the hospital. About 4 in the morning, the doctor told me that my wife had passed,” he said.
According to him, his deceased wife had fought recurring health challenges marked with chest and stomach pains, which he also experienced in 2024.
He said that after the family made an autopsy to ascertain the cause of his death, the relationship showed that he died from acute left ventricular failure, hypertensive cardiac lung and aspiration.
The Nigerian news agency reports that Mrs. Love died on April 21 after a prolonged illness and was buried in June. [NAN]
