The EFCC witness refuses to confirm the legality of banking entries in the case of wings beautiful

A witness of the Commission for economic and financial crimes (EFCC), Femi Remigus, refused to confirm the legality of banking items in the Ali Bello trial, the head of the staff of the governor Usman Ododo of Kogi.

Remigus, a responsible for conformity at Zenith Bank Plc, denied knowing if the transfers of associated banks in the disputed transactions were legitimate before the justice Obiora Egwuatu of the High Federal Court in Abuja.

The EFCC had February 8, 2023, accused Ali Bello, Abba Daudu, Yakubu Siyaka Adobenege, Iyada Sadat and Rashida Bello (in general) for 18 counts for criminal appropriation and cash washing, for a number of N3.081,804,654.00.

The defendants, however, declared themselves not guilty of all the accusations.

At the resumption sitting on Monday, consultant for some defendants, Nureini Jimh, San, asked the conformity manager if after submitting certain account statements to the FCC, he did something with the EFCC regarding this.

The witness replied affirmative, saying that in 2023 the bank gave Efcc the hard cooking of the declaration of an associated account dated, April 14, 2023.

He admitted that after the matter was presented by the EFCC, he was still presenting documents to the Commission for this case.

The lawyer asked the witness to confirm that the following banking items of 24 January 2022 and 25 January 2022, that there was no transfer from or these associated bank accounts of Abba Daudu, Yakubu Siyaka Adobenege, Iyada Sadat and Rashida.

“According to the rumors, I have not seen their names from 24 January 2022 to 25 January 2022”, replied the witness.

The witness told the judge that as responsible for compliance, he knew that his bank was a law respectful of the law.

After his testimony, the conformity officer was subsequently discharged from the witness box.

The judge then updated the case to May 19, May 20 and May 21 for the continuation of the trial

The judge Egwuatu had, on November 6, 2024, ordered the lawyer who appeared for the EFCC, Abbas Mohammed, to confirm and refer to the court if an alleged “misleading” report on the Court’s procedure came from the Commission website.

The judge gave the order after the defense lawyers accused the EFCC of publishing non -verses of what emerged in court on the last date updated on his website against their customers.

Abubakar Aliyu, San and Jimh, San, who appeared for the defendants, had informed judge Egwuatu about the development shortly after the matter had been called.

They complained that a report on Tuesday’s procedures published on the anti-Innesto Agency website and on social media contradicts what emerged in court and that it was not the first time it happened.
