A youth defense group in Kebbi’s state, Kebbi Progressive Youths (Kepyo), made a blow to the former minister of justice and attorney general of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, for his recent public relief, describing it as a “cheap political show” capable of heating politics.
The group, in a declaration issued by his spokesman, Mallam Musa Usman, expressed a profound disappointment for the now viral shots of the comments of Malami, who described as “inconvenient of anyone who has ever held the exalted office of the Chief Law Officer of Nigeria”.
Malami, a senior supporter of Nigeria (San), in the movie said that the criminals sent by the headquarters of the All Progressive Congress sentence (APC) were behind the attack on his convoy during a recent visit commensurate with the capital of the State. The youth group, however, rejected the accusation as reckless, unfounded and motivated politically.
“It is profoundly worrying that a lawyer of the position of Malami would make such serious accusations without presenting a core of evidence,” said the group. “How did he come to the certainty that the criminals who attacked his convoy were shipped by the State Secretariat of Kebbi’s APC? Why was a part that really intended to damage him so negligent as to host criminals in his headquarters for everyone?”
The declaration also observed that Malami’s comments were not only inconvenient of a senior supporter of Nigeria, but also of an attempt to feed a useless tension in the state of Kebbi, in which the political atmosphere remained relatively calm despite the attempts to prepare for the party of the former minister.
According to the group, the leaders who have occupied sensitive national offices owe to the Nigerians a duty of responsibility and moderation, especially in a volatile political climate in which unrealized accusations can trigger disorders. If he wants to make a political event, approval should be obtained by relevant security agencies.
“Malami should understand that as a stakeholder in Kebbi’s policy, his words bring weight. Therefore, he should weigh their implications before choosing to become public with non -proven statements, thus risking inciting division and mistrust, something that the group cannot accept,” Usman said. “This is not the time for political brinkmanship or useless rhetoric. If Malami has political ambitions, let him save his energy for the electoral season, in which his popularity can be tested at the polls, not in the public noise court.”
The youth group also urged the interested parties within the APC to investigate Malami’s statements, not only to free the air, but also to ensure that people do not hide behind the partisan loyalty to emit declarations capable of discrediting the party without evidence.
Usman argued that, although nobody denies the right to freedom of expression, this freedom derives from the responsibility of truth, decorum and consideration for national stability, in particular up to a measure in which incorrect quote from his excellence and false declaration of the facts.
“The Nigerians expect better from those who have had the privilege of having high offices. What we saw in that video was very under the standard provided by a former prosecutor general of the Federation.”
As the political temperature gradually increases in view of the next electoral cycle, the group has invited politicians through the gap to embrace the commitment based on issues rather than exchange sensational accusations that do not add any value to the governance or the well -being of the people.
